It helps to say which iPhone you have and which version of iOS it runs. Wondrous needs iOS 26 or later.

A few answers, in case yours is among them. The app’s buttons appear when a verse has been read, or at once if you tap the screen. The one at the top left opens the library, and the gear at the top of the library opens Settings.

Restoring a purchase

If you are a member and the app does not show it, on a new phone for instance, open the library, tap the gear, and under Membership tap Restore Purchases. The phone must be signed in to the Apple Account that bought the membership, and you may be asked for its password. Restore Purchases is also on the membership offer itself.

Cancelling a membership

A membership is cancelled with Apple, not with us. In the app, open the library, tap the gear, and tap Manage Subscription. Or, in the iPhone’s Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Wondrous.

Cancel at least a day before the next payment is due. The membership stays open until the end of the period you have paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel it. Refunds are Apple’s to give: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Turning the reminder on or off

Open the library, tap the gear, and find Each day. Daily reminder turns it on or off, and Time sets when it comes. It is one quiet notification a day, with the piece’s title and the verse’s opening words.

The first time you turn it on, iOS asks whether Wondrous may send notifications. If the app says that notifications are turned off, allow them in the iPhone’s Settings app, under Notifications, then Wondrous.

Adding the widget

  1. Touch and hold an empty part of the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap Edit at the top, then Add Widget.
  3. Search for Wondrous, choose a size, and tap Add Widget.

There is a smaller one for the Lock Screen: touch and hold the Lock Screen, then tap Customize. The same steps are in the app, under Add the Widget in Settings.

Turning the sound or the ambience off

On any piece, with the buttons showing, tap the speaker at the top right.

The voice and the ambience are in Settings as well.

Who reads the verses

You choose, in the same menu. Warm baritone and Warm alto are synthetic voices: they are made by computer, and are not recordings of a person. Bob Souer is a person, and his reading is from the public-domain recording of the Berean Standard Bible.
