Wondrous is an app for iPhone, published by TriggerWave LLC in the United States. This page says what the app does with information about you and your phone. It describes the app as it is built today.

No account, no advertising, no tracking prompt

There is no account and nothing to sign in to. The app does not ask for your name, your email address, your contacts, your photographs or your location. It shows no advertising, and it never asks for permission to track you.

Measuring our own advertising

To measure our own advertising on Facebook and Instagram, the app includes software from Meta. It tells Meta that the app was installed, each time it is opened and for how long, and once that a first piece was watched to the end (never which piece). It does not report purchases. With these go a random identifier made for this installation, the phone’s model, screen size and processor count, the versions of iOS and of the app, its language, time zone and IP address; never the advertising identifier. If a web link opens the app, the link is passed to this software. If Meta’s software itself fails, it may send Meta a report of the failure. Apple may confirm to Meta, without identifying anyone, that an advertisement led to an install. Meta’s privacy policy says what Meta does with this.

If your App Store is in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or the United Kingdom, Meta’s software is not started, and none of this is sent.

Counting how the app is used

Wondrous counts how it is used, so that we can decide what to make next. Each count is the name of something done in the app, with the piece or the choice involved, and it goes to TelemetryDeck, a company in Germany that keeps the counts for us. What is counted:

With each count go the version of the app, your version of iOS, your model of iPhone, and two random values that the app makes afresh each time you open it and never stores. They show that a few counts belong to one visit, and nothing ties one day’s use to the next. The app sends no name, no account, no device or advertising identifier, no location, no language and no price. TelemetryDeck, like any server, sees the internet address a count comes from, and says that it never stores it.

You can turn the counting off in the app’s Settings, under Anonymous usage counts.

Purchases

A membership is bought through the App Store. Apple takes the payment, and we never see your name, your card or any other payment detail. The app asks Apple only whether your Apple Account holds a membership, and keeps the answer on your phone.

What stays on your phone

The pieces you keep, your settings and your reminders stay on your iPhone. So do a few counts the app keeps for itself, such as how many pieces you have finished, which it uses to decide when to offer you the reminder or the widget. Apart from the counts described above, which are not tied to you or to your phone, none of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is included in the backup of your phone, if you keep one, and it is removed when you delete the app.

Settings has an optional choice of church tradition. Like the rest, it stays on your phone.

Reminders

If you turn on the daily reminder, iOS asks whether Wondrous may send you notifications. Each reminder is made on your phone, from the calendar the app already carries, for the time you chose. No server sends them, and nothing is sent to a server for them.

Sharing

Nothing is shared unless you share it. A picture or a film goes through the iPhone’s own share sheet to wherever you send it.

If you send a film straight to Facebook or Instagram, the app puts it on the clipboard (replacing what you had copied) with the app’s Meta app ID, and opens that app to collect it. The film is cleared after five minutes.

Children

Wondrous is suitable for all ages. It does not ask anyone’s age, and we do not knowingly collect anything from children. What the app sends is the same for everyone, and all of it is described on this page.

This website, and writing to us

This website has no trackers, no advertising and no forms, and we set no cookies. It is served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, sees the internet address a request comes from. If you write to us, we will have your email address and what you tell us, and we use them only to answer you.
